Shot down

Just received a rejection notice from Houghton Mifflin for the Three Bears story. Oh well... it's one of many and I'm sure it won't be the last! Despite the 'no simultaneous submissions', I have three more ms floating around in publisher slush-land and will continue running to my mailbox daily, through cold, snow and blowing wind. Such is the life of a writer!

I'm not crushed, - not even a little upset, - but please send virtual chocolate, anyway!

Oh man, I loved your three bear story. It was so cute, all that tumbling.

Keep trying Wylie, breaking into the children's lit, is so hard.

Thanks, Amy. But are you willing to give me your TRW chocolate this Saturday? Hmmmm??? HMMMMMMM???
I thought not.
*wink*

Yes, you can have my chocolate, if you save me a seat (since I have to sit in sidelines until after business meeting, I'm a member liasion). I'm not a chocolate girl, so you can have mine. I am also sending you virtual hugs!

And to think I was only kidding! I'm happy to relieve you of your chocolate :)
And yes - I'll save you a seat!!

I wish I could be there with you guys on Saturday.

Hey, are either of you participating in Test The Nation. I will be - they're flying me up!

Amy Ruttan said...

I may do test the nation. I'm working out some scheduling stuff

Wylie Kinson said...

I sent in my application to test the nation and haven't heard boo!
Maybe I've scared them off... MWAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm going to participate in Test the Nation... might make an ass out of myself and get everything wrong, but hey. Nobody said I had to get any answers right! :)

And Wylie - sucks ass - I'm sending you some virtual hugs and chocolates! :) And if you get a rejection letter doesn't that mean you automatically get your own chocolate? ;)

Vicky said...

Okay, I just read what I wrote... what I meant was it sucks ass that you got a rejection letter... didn't come out that way when I actually read it. *blushing* sorry!

Vicky -- no chocolate for the rejection because it was a kiddie lit rejection, not romance.
That's okay... I have an 'in' with the Dairy Milk people. They make the bars, I put them 'in' my mouth :)

Argh, rejections stink -- but I know you'll keep on keeping on, and that's what's important. And I'm glad you're not upset! :) Sending mucho virtual chocolate because hey, chocolate is always good.

Vicky said...

Oh yeah... I totally didn't think of the 'not romance' aspect. My head isn't in all the right places lately. :) I'll bring you some chocolate, but you have to share! ;)

Hi Wylie
Sorry to hear about the rejection letter. I guess that those letters are a necessary part of the writer's life, because without them we wouldn't ever get an acceptance. Hope the inevitable acceptance letter is not delayed too long.
Kindest

Thanks for all your virtual chocolates and supportive comments! As I said - I'm not terribly crushed. I have an admirable collection of form-letters from the best houses in NY! Perhaps I should publish them!! LOL
