Nora's Blue Smoke

The usual preface: I'm not a book review site. If you want honest, nice, snark or ratings, go see Smart Bitches, Mrs. Giggles, Dear Author, Bam, Romance Divas, etc...

Just turned the last page of Nora Robert's Blue Smoke. I've had this book on my shelf for over a year but it kept getting bumped in favor of newer, borrowed or 'hot'. I'm glad I finally got to it. Nora (La Nora, Queen Nora or whatever you'd like to call this prolific author) has written a lot (A LOT) of books. Some are not my cup of tea, others strike just the perfect note. Blue Smoke was in the latter group. Excellent blend of suspense and romance, a sweet family saga mixed with a smokin' hot plot. I like books that offers a little education. La Nora scattered just the right amount of fire facts, police/arson investigative procedure and criminal psychology in this novel to fill a few of my empty brain cells. I highly recommend this one.

That was book 20 in the 50 book challenge.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Vicky and Mr. Vicky, who will be welcoming a wee one in 6 or so months time. Another reader will be born!

I've read this, but I kept thinking of another she'd written early on in her career (Night Smoke) that was just too close to this one which ruined some of the experience for me.

Having said that, anything Nora writes always blows me away - she creates such believable, down-to-earth characters.

I'm not a huge fan of Queen Nora. I've read a couple I like. I'll check that one out for sure.

And it looks like I have someone else to knit for!

But I tell you all this baby talk at the TRW and with Vicky has me dreaming about babies. I don't dare my next one might be 15lbs.

*sigh* This is the one and only Nora Roberts book I've not yet read. It's buried somewhere in my TBR pile. I've really got to dig it out eventually. :)

I read lots of different books, lots and lots. Yet I still can not bring myself to crack open a Nora Roberts

Sparky... if you ever do, make sure you get lots of recommendations. Some are really very good, some are just Harlequins in pretty covers (no offense intended to Harlequin authors, readers or the entire category romance genre, or to La Nora)
She writes so many different 'levels' of books, if you get my gist, so a JD Robb fan might not be interested in her sweet romances. Personally, I stay away from the trilogies (cept the Chesapeake ones from way back) and don't enjoy the JD Robb dramas that my father in law devours. I prefer her single titles. Try one. You may surprise yourself!

I like Nora for a change of pace. I haven't read most of her books, but I have a stack of her books when I'm ready for some lighter reading. The Witches series is my fave.
