Thursday Thirteen #19 - Why I'm not TTing tonight

Thirteen Reasons I have NO TIME to TT this week...

  1. Season finale of LOST is on in 30 minutes. *simultaneous relief and distress*
  2. It's the final night of my mother's visit :( and despite my pleading, she can't/won't stay longer.
  3. Sweetness (aka 3 yr old) won't go to sleep *grrr* and keeps sneaking out of his bed.
  4. Light (aka 7 yr old son) has a sore willy and cries when he pees. *ouch!*
  5. Destiny by Design came out last Friday and in all the excitement, I didn't think of any good topics (I'm no good at quick thinking).
  6. I was also swamped doing the newsletter for the Toronto Romance Writers this past week and still have a few loose ends to tie up (after LOST).
  7. I haven't had dinner yet and food takes precedence over blogging.
  8. Summer is here and I desperately need to shave my legs (tmi, TMI!!)
  9. My critique partner has been waiting very patiently for my comments and I haven't yet read the second installment of her so-far captivating novel.
  10. With Destiny by Design's release, I feel pressure to finish one of my many wips so an inordinate amount of time doesn't pass before my next book comes out. Goal for the coming weeks: less blogging, more writing *damn it!*
  11. I only got 3 hours of sleep last night thanks to the nocturnal rumblings of Sweetness & Light.
  12. I can't get the soundtrack to Phantom of the Opera out of my head and therefore am too distracted to focus on the demands of TT.
  13. The June edition of Writer's Digest just arrived and I can't do ANYTHING else until I sit down to read the hilariously entertaining Kevin Alexander.
So tell me - What would distract YOU from a week of TTing??

Hun you know the change in the direction of the wind can distract me from doing anything. Writing distracts me from doing a TT. I've been trying to do them Wednesday night so I'm not caught Thursday morning trying to think of something at work!

And everyone buy Destiny By Design!!

LOL! It looks to me like you had a little time afterall. :-)

My current WIP and the EDJ always distract me, because these two things occupy my time and I want to spend time with the chillins. I almost passed on it this week because I was so sapped from my 4k in 2 days. BooYa.

Of course I was in a slump for what feels like eternity.

I second Christine: buy Destiny by Design!!

And I loved your list, Wylie -- what a great idea to make a list for TT about what's getting in the way of TTing, LOL!

Take your time re: MB... no hurry. :) I'm glad you and your mom have had such a lovely visit!

And *giggle*, food always must take precendence over blogging... just ask my cats! ;)

Happy TT, my friend!

Hey, I shaved this morning... and had my list done last night. Am I on top of things, or WHAT?

Otherwise, I resemble your list in too many ways to say. But have fun with your mom while she's there!

Hmmmm...seems like you did find a moment to T13 :) I hope that Light's issue gets better and that your next week is a little less hectic!

What would distract me? Probably being on vacation, having a lot going on for school, having a cranky baby (this distracted me a lot the last few weeks!!)

LOL! I write mine in advance. If I didn't, I wouldn't get it done. Distractions here include my two children, my cat, work, house work, my garden, lots of good books to read, swimming and playing wii sports with DH.

You gave this a lot of thought, didn't you? hehehe!

Ha! And now I'm too busy to comment on your comments. See!! Not enough time in a day...

Wylie, DITTO, DITTO, DITTO!! All I want to do is WIP but I can't think now! = (

So I guess we won't be getting a TT from you this week then!

And I already have bought DBD!

Congrats on Destiny By Design - I'll be reading this weekend. I'm having a spa day this Saturday so I'll I want to do is curl up with a good read . . .

I can totally appreciate your excitement and motivation to write more, publish more - but maybe there's something to be said to slowing down and enjoying your success!

Then again, we're all waiting (no pressure) to see what comes next. . .

LOL Sounds like we're having the same kind of week. Luckily for me I'd planned ahead, or I would have spaced off TT entirely.

Now get to work!

I'm glad you found the time to make this list though! I was destracted by my hubby, best friend and a lot of work on the computer!
My TT is a co-production with Google.

I hear you on the writing vs. blogging and on the anxiety about getting something done. Trying to balance everything is basically impossible. ;-)

Great list. We are so often busy but are we busy doing what we want to be doing? Often the answer for me is "no". Good luck with your writing!

I've never gotten into Lost. I have the 1st season on DVD, though. Is it good times?

This is a wonderful way of turning No Time into the thing-already accomplished. Brava!

I have BBD as well. :)
Food should definitely take precedence over blogging!

Heh. The last time I skipped a TT, I think I was on vacation.

What's really annoying is that when I have no time, so I decide to do a really easy one, it takes twice as long as usual.

Joy Renee said...

LOL. now here is a TT concept I'm going to have to use one of these weeks.

my TT is 13 memories of my Dad and me in honor of Memorial Day and his Bday Tuesday

I am thinking of writing next weeks 13 this weekend. Then I won't have to rush next week.

I, too, am crazy. My brain is mush.

Hope your craziness slows down soon.

Hey!! Slacker-gal!!! I'm in excruciating pain, and yet I managed my T13 post this week. (This actually just means that I'm a really sad, sad human being who needs a lemon bar and a nap. And my painkillers. Don't forget the painkillers.)

I have to admit, though...I cheat. I use my T13s to help me organize my own thoughts sometimes. They may be entertaining, but sometimes they're little more than glorified to-do lists.

Good luck with your writing - and congrats on the release of Destiny by Design!

Oh my god, my legs are a wreck..but I've lost a couple pounds...and so last night I dolled up and wore a dress I haven't been able to fit in since xmas!!! It was a long sheer black dress with velvet roses in black...wore it over a short slip...and just hoped like hell that no one would notice I needed to shave my legs under the long sheer dress. I think I got away with with it. I don't even have any razors in the house!!!

Fun list honey and I am so glad you had a good visit with your mom!
