Random Bits, Overheard, Sopranos, THANKS!

First of all - THANK YOU so much to those who voted for my novella Destiny by Design in Ciar Cullen's "Fave Spring E-Book" poll. I can't believe I'm in the lead right now (WOOT!!!!) and even though my hubby keeps reminding me that there is no 'prize' (he knows my fondness for genuine gold plastic trophies), I keep reminding HIM that it's all about my ego... ;) And getting my name out, and selling books, that people actually like...
We're still days away from the closing - so if you haven't voted, go here:

Overheard at the Kinson's breakfast table:
Me (upon seeing 3 year old swiping his sticky hands across his shirt): "Sweetness, stop wiping your hands on your shirt. That's what your napkin is for."
Sweetness (hand stilled, caught in the act): "I not wipe my hands, I feeling my heart beat." (pause) "Yep it's there."

Mortimer Tea Flash:
Thanks so much for your outpouring of kind words and virtual hugs. I still keep expecting a head bump or ankle rub,...

The Sopranos:
AWESOME finale. At first, I was like WTF? Did my cable go out????!!! But it really made sense. "Don't Stop Believing" was playing on the juke, Tony's family was around the table for a meal. The ramp up to the non-violent end had my heart pounding in anticipation of a possible hit (Meadow parking the car?? They suspicious dudes in the diner that weren't really suspicious expect in our minds???!!!!) Well done David Chase. Now Tony's arrest/death/rise to the top of NY gangs will forever be left to our imagination. You kept the gritty reality of the show REAL, 'cause life never has tidy endings and we really never get all the answers, do we?

Wylie, Great job about leading the contest, sweetie. Keep going, and everyone keep voting!

LOL about sweetness, aw, shucks. He sounds adorable.

And, all I have to say to you about SOPRANOS is . . . what the...!?! I could've sworn the suspicious guys at the diner were going to whack all four of them!! I nearly screamed when it blacked out. Does this mean I'm filled with negativity?!? OMG I could hardly breathe.

Red - I thought that Tony, Carmella and AJ would get whacked and Meadow, who was having parking issues, would walk in just as it was going down, leaving her the only survivor. But David Chase is GREAT at taking your mind one way and going completely in another. I mean, did you see the murder of Chris coming?
And wasn't Leotardo's death scene weird/scary/funny??

Thanks Christine. I was SHOCKED having read the amazing entries. Some of those lines had me shouting: THAT'S IT???!!! I WANT MORE!!!
The whole thing is such a tease.
Too bad my second line is such a yawner...

I saw you were in the lead. YIPEE!
I wasn't into the Sopranos, but it sounded like a good finale.

Very cute Sweetness story. Thanks again for making my announcement and filling out my accolade thinger. I can't wait to find out if it sold. Question, how long to find out. I am so afraid since it's been two weeks that maybe my email screwed up and she didn't get it. Of course, that's my anxiety talking again. ERGH!

Wylie - rockin' the casbah.
Baby - you have such a lead that i feel fairly confident you bagged it. I wish mo' peeps were voting though - i woulda loved to see those poll numbers hit three digits.

i'll address the meme wed. - inlaws due to arrive any second and tomorrow is hellish work day with a bazillion appointments.
You want nutty, personal, contraversial or thought provoking? I think i actually have ONE of the latter buried somewhere.

Amy - I can't remember how long exactly, but it was more than 2 weeks... More like 6.

Rhi - Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you know what they say about the fat lady singing! There's DAYS left to vote and A.D. has a big fan base -- I'm one of them -- LOL!
But I'm chuffed beyond measure to be leading AT THIS POINT.
As for the meme - I look forward to seeing what you've got. Anything will do!

OMG, I still haven't gotten over it. Well I feel like Chris completely cheated me. I wanted to see Tony retire, live happily ever after, and get to see his grandkids. Now I just KNOW they were whacked at the diner. LOL!!! But yes, this director is WOW. I never saw Chris's death, plus the first two episodes that were so eerily calm? I was SO jumpy. The second episode with the lake, and the little girl playing around it...aaargh, my nails were all gone right then. HA!

By the way that first sentence, I meant Chase cheated me. Not poor Chris, good rest his good soul. LOL.

(See? David Chase left me all wound up right there, LOL!)

Red - I've been reading a few entertainment blogs and it looks like there are many that share your disappointment!
I maintain it was the perfect ambiguous ending for a morally ambiguous show!
There are whole discussions on whether the Sopranos was ART or ENTERTAINMENT and if it's ART, then the ending should be exactly as the creator intended, and not to kowtow to the needs of the masses blah blah blah... Methinks people need to think more about wars and famines than a show about a mob family - don't you think ;)

But, I watch TV for the neat and tidy endings!! You think you could get away with finishing a book like that. A better ending would have been watching twilight grow with them sipping cocktails at the Jersey shore, this way we could imagine the big things, as opposed to thinking the dudes at the jukebox blew them all away.

WOOT, WOOT! Wylie, I'm so excited that you're in the lead! :-D Jumping up and down!!!!

Sparky - they you might want to subscribe to this theory: Twice during conversations (the most recent, when they were in the boat together) Bobby told Tony that he thought death would be like everything going black. EVERYTHING GOING BLACK. If you think of the diner scene, the dude goes into the washroom, Tony looks up and sees Meadow enter (we're seeing her from Tony's pov) then EVERYTHING GOES BLACK. Perhaps the dude in the bathroom came out and shot him. Which would also pay hommage to the Godfather (was it the Godfather? I think so) when the hit dude hid the gun in the washroom. He comes out and EVERYTHING GOES BLACK.

TL - yeah, I just checked and I'm still leading - WOOT!! I have no idea who those wonderful people are (I certainly don't have 50 friends-- LOL). Though I did pimp myself to the the Toronto Romance Writers hoping they'd throw me a bone.

yep, you are right, I heard your theory on the radio this aftenoon actually and it made tons of sense. And then your intelligence seals it for me. Now, i have also spent way too much time thinking of this showi in the first place.
