laptops, Oscars, writing, espionage?

Computers & such.
I'm the proud owner of a sleek new Compaq Presario. I should be over the moon with my new toy, but honestly, I miss my old baby. She wasn't fancy -- in fact it was a cheap old Gateway refurb that was heavier than my television -- but I loved her. She was small and compact, but felt solid, ready to go to work.
Like anything, I'm sure I'll grow to love this new puppy once I break her in.
As for Windows Vista - I'm loving it! It's ALMOST as cool as the MAC O/S. Almost.

OSCARS. Boring.
Except when that folksy pair won best song from the movie 'ONCE' - which I saw and enjoyed, but acknowledge it's probably not for everybody. Certainly not anyone looking for Hollywood polish, special effects or good dental hygeine.
Definitely the best moment of the night was when Jon Stewart let the girl come back on stage to finish her thank you speech. Class.

Migraines.
I had THREE of them last week. I've gone years without one and forgot how horrible they can be. Any migraine sufferers out there? You have my sympathies.

Writing.
None. Well -- this past week I did work on the next chapter of this children's writing course I started last year, but I don't know that it's doing much good. Every assignment I receive back from my instructor is full of compliments and praise - which is fine, but if I'm so damn good, how come I can't get any of my children's stories published??

(My 3 year old just typed that. It's the only word he can spell, aside from his name.)

Congrats on the new laptop! I know what you mean, I was so sad when my old refurb died on me (my son just fired it back up this last weekend, the miracle worker) but I love my (not so new anymore) laptop. It goes everywhere with me.

I get migraines occasionally - they suck. :(

And yes the Oscars were totally boring. But they usually are. I only watch to see the pretty people.

Karen - I usually totally love the Oscars, but this year I found that even the pretty people weren't that pretty. Then again, this is the first year watching in HD -- and really, I've never seen so many freckles - LOL! John Travolta had so much pancake makeup on it squicked me out!

I watched the Oscars - had to go get a saucer of milk after some of my comments. Meow!

Congrats on the laptop, but I know what you mean about being attached to the old one. Just remember to back up your work regularly.

Used to get migraines a lot, but they've died down a bit. Hopefully that hasn't jinxed it. But they're horrible aren't they? And three in one week? My sympathies!

I have a Compaq and love it. It's been a work horse for me for the past 4 years. I actually have a migraine right now as I sit here at work. I'm about to go into a 4 hour meeting, so I'm not anticipating it's going to get any better...

THe Children's market is hard to get into. Extremely hard. I finished that same second part of course and I still have to write my success story ... even though I'm not published in Children's lit. LOL!

Glad your back!

Migraines, I get them all the time I HATE them. Right now I'm dealing with that freaky seasonal disorder thing where I'm so tired and lethargic.

Bleh ... more snow scheduled for tonight.

Compaq Presario -- now, we're computer twins! :) That's the kind of laptop I have, too, and I've used it for over three years.

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear about your migraines! They sound awful.

And hang in there with the children's stories -- you'll break in, I really feel you will, but the rejection gauntlet sure isn't easy.

((((Hugs!))))

Congrat on the new laptop, may it bring you much success, with no hardware issues. Sorry about the migraines, that just sucks (I don't get migraines- I've been getting weather change headaches- bleh). Children's stories? Cool, they'll sell, you'll see. :)

Thanks for the well-wishes blog-buds. I'm still playing catch up, trying to read everyone's blogs for the week I've been 'away'...

Yay on getting a new computer! As for the Oscars, I must admit that I enjoyed it for the first time. Hahaha! Okay, it wasn't as funny as before with Billy Crystal. But still, I liked Jon Stewart's sarcastic comments.
