I AM AN IDIOT or I Have Better Things To Do

So, I'm trying to be hip, young and with-it (my first mistake) and opened up a My Space account.
Hell on fire, I have absolutely NO idea how to navigate, add music, backgrounds, pictures, nuthin!
It took me 6 - 8 months to finally feel comfortable on blogger, and that's fairly easy.
My Space has me in a complete tailspin!!
I've spent the last few days trying to figure it out but by-God, I declare defeat!
I haven't a clue how to get friends (the 2 legit ones I have I stumbled across, emailed them and they somehow knew what to do, whatever... The other two I have no clue who they are. Some dude named Tom appeared as soon as I hit 'enter' with my info, the other, I have no clue who or what they are.)

If YOU have a MySpace account and want to be my friend, feel free to join yourself to my list,... if you know how :)

Oh - and the blog on MySpace? I tried, and finally succeeded after hours of attempts (on my slow laptop) to get my latest blogger post on their as well. Too much trouble for what it was worth!

I've got a (pretty new) MySpace account too. I don't know that I like it much so far....

I've got some friends (including Tom - but he's everybodys friend - I think it's his job, lol) but my so-called 'friendships' don't seem to mean very much. You know, we never actually COMMUNICATE with each other or anything like that. Mostly we just sit around and make each other look popular.....

It took me a while to figure it out to be honest. I'm good at adding friends now. You can go to someone's page (mine for example) and click on one of my friends. Then somewhere on that person's page you'll see a little box that will either have Add, Friend, or something like that. Click it and it will ask you to confirm that you'll be their friend. And that's it. Once they approve you're set.

The rest...I'm still learning. I did manage to get a video and song on my site which is nice.

Rebecca - You mean 'Tom' is a consolation prize? Oh man...

Christine - if it took YOU awhile, there's no hope for me. But thanks for the tip on finding friends through other's sites.

I tried looking you up on myspace cause I accidentally erased the email myspace sent to me (it was in my junk email).

I look you up again. It's really overwhelming at first ... believe I know. Tom is the support guy, he's everyone's friend.

Some people that want to be your friend are spammer people. And then there's pimping your profile.

AIYIYIYI!

Just checked out your MySpace page -- it looks really good!

Alas, I've been resisting MySpace with all my might. I've poked around on it some in the past and didn't like it very much. But I wonder if one of these days I'll need to bite the bullet and come aboard.

I have employees who are experts at My Space. If only I could get them to spend as much time on their jobs. LOL.

I'm scared of MySpace! I'm working on doing the 12 step program on how to get over your fear of myspace. I'm proud to say I'm half way through step 1! :)

I've got a myspace account. I don't really do much with it. I've used their blog from time to time... but I don't really like it. So my myspace page just kind of sits there. Perhaps one of these days I'll do more with it... but until then. It's just there. I friended ya though! :)

All you had to do was ask! I've sent you a friend request.

All HTML/CSS changes you make in MySpace are done in the about me box. If you Google MySpace layouts, you'll find a ton of info on what to do.

Have fun!

TL & Vicky - you're smart to stay away! I'm losing sleep over background images and really, who cares?

Elle - ah,... you make it sound so easy! But it's no-ot!
I tried that and got a big black screen with error messages that told me I was 'stealing' the image. Then it took me another hour to get the 'blackness' gone again because, of course, I couldn't see any of the text on the page. Oh, I'm stupid, aren't I?
But thanks for friending me!

Rash- thanks for friending me. So, you mean your name really isn't Rashenbo? :)
It threw me off for a moment...

I had A LOT of trouble at my space, too. I spent I think a whole week trying to figure it out. It wasn't until I GOOGLED "free my space backgrounds" that I found a couple of sites that give you a code you can copy paste on your profile. In the edit profile section I just pasted that at ABOUT ME and wrote below all that. It seems to have worked. If you want my code let me know and I'll send it by email. You at least get black background with white letters and some red. HMM. Lovely color, now that I think of it! LOL!

I got totally freaked out when that TOM guy appeared as my friend that time I signed up. I ERASED HIM!! Only now realize he seems to be everyone's friend, LOL.

I ALSO see no point in it but some authors claim it boosts sales. Well we'll just have to put that to the test . . . LOL.

I DID IT!!! Thanks Elle and Red -- between the two of you, I managed to get a background on MySpace -- with no weird messages or complications (yet...)

WOOT!

I got one a couple weeks ago thanks to Klaudia's suggestions but to be honest, it seems very flashy graphics heavy that attract teens. Not my style, I prefer a neat clean webpage without a lot of flashy graphics.

I'm keeping my blog on blogspot - I don't like the myspace one.
