Thursday Thirteen #27 - Name our pussies!

There are two new additions to the Kinson household. Introducing our pussies!
BLACK KITTEN and GREY KITTEN. If only we could agree on names...

Now that your mind is out of the gutter ~ we need help naming the wee beauties. They're two-month old sisters, very active, somewhat noisy, affectionate, cuddly and soft as... well, kittens!
My youngest son is quite stuck on the name Licorice for little blackie, (but he's 3 and malleable) while older son refers to little grey as Grey (he's more imaginative when getting out of chores. Trust me.)

Please help! Here are 13 options, so vote for one, or come up
with your own suggestion:
  1. Vixen (black) and Prancer (grey)
  2. Licorice and Nibs
  3. Roxy and Lulu
  4. Sooty and Smokey
  5. Goblin and Ghost
  6. Sugar and Spice
  7. Betty and Veronica
  8. Flopsy and Mopsy
  9. Raven and London (as in fog)
  10. Velvet and Tinkerbell
  11. Elvira and Avalon
  12. Espresso and Biscotti
  13. YOUR SUGGESTION

*Thanks TL, for some of these suggestions!

Am I first? Wowie!

SQUEEEEEEE!!!!! The itty bitty baby kitties are SO ADORABLE!!!! They are so cute I just can't STAND it! I am in a chronic case of SQUEEEEEE here!

I vote for Avalon and Elvira. :) They could go by Ava and Elf for short, hehe.

And do you know that Elvira (the black one, hehe) looks JUST LIKE my black kitty, Dora the Explorer, did when she was a little bitty kitten? Click here for some pictures of Dorydoo (the post is written by my cat Chairman Mao so please excuse his questionable spelling and grammar :-D ).

A wonderful T13 and... SQUEEEEEE!!!

Those are some cute kittens. How about Smokey and Soot? Or Mocha and Latte? Happy TT.

I'm attracted to Espresso and Biscotti myself. Cuteness overload, by the way! Especially that last picture of the black kitten.

OMG! They're sooo adorable! I like Raven & London. *wg*

What cuties!! I say #12 since I love coffee so much. Happy TT!

Absolutely adorable. I like Betty and Veronica.

In honor of your son I say Licorice and Nibs. It just has to be licorice. He will always know that he named that cat. If Nibs isn't okay then how about smokey, or something else that is grey? Have a great TT. :)

Okay, Wylie, I'm dieting and have been seriously carb deprived for nearly 2 months. So, I've gotta go with #12, Espresso and mmmmmmm Biscotti. Yum! :-)

This week I've posted 13 mini excerpts from my books. :-)

We had a burmese blue at one point, he was this lovely grey, so we called him Earl Grey :)

I'm probably not the best person to offer naming advice - our most recent addition (about 6mths old now) is called Chicken and our older cat gets called Moo Moo's ...

Oh man, such good choices!

I vote Elvira and Avalon first
Raven and London second.

My cats have only ever come to "kitty , kitty". So I would suggest "kitty, kitty" and "kitty, kitty, kitty". Might be hard to remember which is which though.

ROTFLMAO!!! You did a cat blog!!

Um, as my own are named Booger, Paganini, and Princess Magi, I'm sure you'll appreciate it if I don't suggest anything much.

But I will vote for Licorice and London. 'Cept what would you call Licorice for short? Lick? Rish? Liquor?

Awww, they're so cute. I vote for Storm and Cloud.

Aaaaaawwwwwwwwww, cuuuuuuuuute!!!! Of course I vote for Tinkerbell, and for the other one Avalon. :-)
Thanks for visiting my BED TT!

They are soooo cute! I like Sooty and Smokey. Or you could go with Sooty and Cinders. Have fun with the new babies.

They are so sweet! I'm partial to Raven and London myself.

Hey, Wylie, why am I not surprised to see how excited Thomma Lyn is? *grin*

As for names... hmm. We considered Beavis and Butt-head, Itchy and Scratchy, and Devon and Rex for mine. I don't suggest Devon and Rex for yours; that was because mine are the Devon Rex breed and my brother-in-law thought it was hysterical.

Why not Lucy and Ethel?

I like Roxy and Lulu, they just seem to fit.

I love espresso and biscotti

Betty and Veronica!

My daughter is Veronika and if I had another I would name her Basia (Betty in Polish)Life has dealt me boys. Still I love the names. Your kittens are precious.

Raven's a bit lacking in originality, but I love the choice for London. Dammit, I want a kitten now. My 9-yo tabby male is a bit...stodgy.

You silly goose, I don't spit at the pictures of black cats sheesh. From your list Im liking Raven and Fog. Though as always I can make suggestions

Pearl and Jam
Onyx and Opal

Oh I went through that just 2 1/2 months ago too, lol ! when we choose a name for my little kitten. Finally we named her Rosie. You can see her on my cat blog if you want. I find Flopsy and Mopsy or Roxy and Lulu nice for these cute little monsters !

I like Goblin and Ghost. :)

They are adorable! I'm voting for Licorice and Nibs.

Amy Ruttan said...

I like #1, or you could go with Burt and Ernie or Starsky & Hutch or Mork and Mindy or Salt and Peppa.

I don't know, I suck at names. How about Fred & George in honor of HP?

Robyn Mills said...

Welcome back. They are so cute. You know Licorice is going to become Licker.... so here you go TC (tiny cat)and BC (Bigger cat)... Cheers Robyn

Darla said...

Aw, how cute! I suppose Lucy & Ethel is overdone, huh? You could get one more and call them Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy. Steph and Lula?

Of the ones you listed, I'm partial to Betty & Veronica.

Savannah Chase said...

I vote Raven and London......

MsSnarkyPants said...

Flopsy and Mopsy are just adorable names! And they are adorable kittens so perhaps it fits. hehe

Alyssa Goodnight said...

Oooh--I like Licorice and Nibs and Sooty and Smokey! I confess I'm not very good at coming up with names. I have trouble finding character names for my book...

We had a gray cat named shadow because she blended into the carpet and kept getting stepped on...

What cute babies...

Paris and Nicole?
or....

Tony and Cleo (for Anthony and Cleopatra)

I want to come and play with them!!!! I miss having a cat around the place...that's one drawback to living out of a suitcase...

So cute. When I grew up we had two male tabbys and my dad (chuckle head he was) named them Pete and Repeat. They were carbon copies as far as looks go but with different personalities.

I'm partial to the names of #2 and #12. Happy TT! Come and join in my Elvis contest!

Spy Scribbler said...

I love Goblin & Ghost, especially given their coloring! The gray one would be Ghost, right?

What cuties! I'm so jealous!
Happy TT!

Rhian said...

i liked Shell's names: Storm and Cloud
or Storm and Rain
Do NOT name them Elvis and Priscilla. My sister's dog is named Elvis - when he ran away one day while she was visiting, she ran down the road yelling "Elvis, Elvis - where are you?" at the top of her lungs. Took me forever to talk her into getting in my car and stop yelling. Goddess, I wish that wasn't a true story, but it is.
And yeah - the dog made it's own way back to my house.

How about ...Gandalf (the grey) and Sauron (the black)

I vote for #1. I love kittens (I'd say pussies, but I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea;-)

Natalie said...

How about Hermione and Ginny?

Happy TT!

I find that it's usually best to keep the names short and simple... not just for the people, but mostly for the animal. Things like Flopsy & Mopsy sound really cute to us but could be confusing the the cats... sound too much alike. I like the above comment that suggested Elvira and Avalon be the names, and they be called Ava & Elf.

Happy T13

I like #7 Betty and Veronica.

My last 2 additions I named Mattie and Michael because I was reading a Stephen King (Bag of Bones) novel and those were the two main characters.

Also ... wanted to mention I just finished book 25 in the 50 book challenge.

Miss Frou Frou said...

I like Licorice too... what about Anise?

And grey cats are refered to as Blue coloured, so you could do Black and Blue...

What about Night and Grey?

M. said...

i think a cat would interpret vixen as an insult - foxes being canine and all. same for flopsy and mopsy - what feline wants to be confused with a rabbit?

myself , i'd go with espresso and biscotti (my ex sister-in-law had a cat called crumpet)- BUT
are they yours or your boys?
would need to have kid appeal

the latest pets in our house were called max (from '...and ruby') and fred (from 'and george). tells you how old my boys are
