Storyboarding Day 1 and Shopping 101

Between last evening and this morning, all the storyboard students had the opportunity to introduce themselves. I was very happy to see some familiar faces on the loop (Hi Red, Linda and Joan!!) as well as some amazing talented multi-pubbed writers and even a striking screen writer.

Armed with my shopping list, my 3 year old helper and I hit Staples for a foam poster board and a basket full of multi-colored post-it notes.
I love office supply stores and couldn't help going a bit nuts. Instead of ONE foam board, I got a 3 pack. Hey- you never know when you're going to need a foam core board, am I right?? And in addition to the 3x3 post-its, I got 4x4 lined post-its in blue, yellow, gold and orange so I can organize all my other to-do and project lists - yipee!!
AND some new pens, despite the fact that Santa had put some in my stocking,
AND another giant calculator because I misplaced the one I had (ironically, I found it when I got home in the place I'd decided to keep my *new* giant calculator... go figure),
a duotang to keep my course notes in,
some new print cartridges for my printer, in case I should run out of ink while printing course notes for my new duo-tang
AND, *deep breath* a 2 GB flash drive because it was purple with swirls and looked totally cute (even my 3 year old thought so!!) - and it even came with a lanyard so I can wear it around my neck (though why I'd want to do that I don't know - but I did,... all afternoon),
AND - yes, there's more - little colorful tab-sized post-its in case I want to mark a specific page in my course notes in my new duotang.

You should see me in a hardware store :D

Fess up - what's your weakness???

You've hit most of my weaknesses- pens, post its, highlighters, and notebooks (love notebooks). Good luck with the storyboarding class- it sounds interesting.

Ann - so far it is. I hope it helps me organize all the plots/threads/characters in my head. If not, then at least I'll come out ahead in the office supply category :)

OH, boy, you found one of my weak spots too - I love those stores. I'd go in at 'back-to-school' time and come out with things the kids would never need. I would find bags a year later filled with Post-its, pens, you name it! But they'd never go to waste!

Oh so cool. I love Staples ... it's the same thing with me, I'm like a kid in a candy store. Yippee.

I was the same way when I got my foam board.

Did I mention how much I love story boarding. Helped me through some creative droughts with Journey.

:D

Sounds like you had an awesome time at Staples, Wylie! I think one of the best days of 2007 for me was the day I bought my paper shredder. It's perfect for rejection letters...LOL

I'm a former teacher...I love all office supplies! I think I may have to take this course just so I can justify buying the stuff!

So glad that I'm not alone!

HEE! What fun. :) Yesterday, hubby and I went running around, and I bought a 160 gig portable hard drive. It's so small, and so cute! I have it tucked under my laptop stand, and talk about extra storage space -- it has 100 more gigs than my laptop computer's hard drive. Now I can go absolutely N-U-T-S making videos of the kitties! :-D

You are my shopping sister. I love Staples and I really don't need any more office supplies.

That is tooo funny, Wylie. I had to have my friend come from Maryland last year to help organize my duplicates and triplicates and eonicates of everything. She dubbed me the "Post it Queen" and made a storage box in my office closet just for them!
