The Great Wolf Lodge Timewarp

The Kinsons made a trek down to Niagara Falls, Ontario to revisit the Great Wolf Lodge. Before leaving, which in reality was only a double digit handful of hours ago, we (read: I) was a total stress-case of Christmas angst.

We came back today (and this time I mean all of us) exhausted from all the fun and feeling as relaxed as if we were gone weeks. No kidding! It was like travelling through some kind of time warp!!

Upon arriving home this evening, I ran around the house watering my plants so they wouldn't die (Duh... they were watered last Thursday) and was quite prepared send hubby out with a grocery list (Double duh... stocked the fridge on Friday).

If you've never been, or never heard of the place, Great Wolf Lodge is ONE BIG BLAST OF WATERY FUN!!! The indoor water park (kept a balmy 84 degrees F) has big slides, medium slides, baby-fun slides, a wave pool (totally reminded me of the smashing wave-fun in Bermuda), two swimming pools, tons of splashy-pad type activities, towers to climb, water cannons to aim, buckets to tip, hot tubs, more hot tubs, and a lazy river, that despite your insisting otherwise, your kids insist on racing you through!

When your hands and feet are so pruny you're quite sure they'll never plump up again, you can haul butt to the arcade, send the kids to the cub club for arts, crafts and an array of activities, and in summer-time, amuse yourself with mini-golf. And speaking of summer - there's also an outdoor pool incase you don't get wet enough inside.

I didn't even make it to the Elements Spa this trip. Ah well... next time.

'Course, this latest trip, so close to Christmas, was an absolute delight -- the decor was festive, Santa made an appearance, they did sleigh rides around the property and had a ton of Christmassy stuff for kids.

Last night, we drove around Niagara Falls to see the annual festival of lights - which was spectacular - almost enough to distract us from the beauty of the falls themselves, all lit up and misty, a sight to behold.

And although we took our camera, we took NO pics of our own. In fact, all the pictures along the side are downloaded from the web -- with my apologies and thanks to those that did take them.

In other why-is-Wylie-not-blogging news... my mother-in-law arrives tomorrow so I'll probably not blog again until next week. Hope y'all are a'ight... and I will try to pop around everyone elses blogs and see what's what...

What a cool place, Wylie. And great pics. The closest thing we have is Bass Pro. When it was one or two and they were unique it was cool, now they are just like going to an overpriced outdoors Walmart.

I was so close to you this weekend! I was in Welland! LOL!!

I can't wait to take my kids there. I have to wait until Sumo and Bun in oven get a little older. Boo's ready though, she went from being afraid of the water (we put her in swimming classes, excuse me forced her in swimming lessons) and now she's like a fish.

Hey Marley!
We have a Bass Pro near us. What a store! But I see what you mean abou the 'specialness' evaporating with the chaininess.

Oh my... we WERE close! I always get neck-strain gawping at the Welland Locks when we go over the canal. It's no Panama but it thrills me just the same.

And yes - you totally MUST take Boo, Sumo and Bun to GWL. There were so many pregnant women there!!
The kids had such an amazing time... and like I said, they are EXHAUSTED. It's only 7:30 and they're both fast asleep.

Sounds like you had a great trip! And sounds like you're very busy. Sometimes it's darned hard to find time to blog! :)

Have a great week, my friend! And H & P.

Hi Wylie, I'm glad you got some R&R. I'm almost back in the blog world. I've got my foot in the door. One more round of examiners next week and I'm done. I've missed everyone.

That's the plan for 2009 if I can tear myself away from my Wii;-)

We drove by the Great Wolf (even got some pictures of it) when we were down in NF a couple months ago. I wish it had been around when our kids were little. Glad you enjoyed yourself, and hope you also took advantage of the kids being asleep by 7:30 with Mr. Kinson ;)

That sounds like so much fun, Wylie! A great idea to take a time warp destressor. I haven't really started much of anything, Christmas-wise, but I'm not much to get worked up over Christmas. Get maniacally excited, yes. I'm such a kid...

Ya know, maybe we ought to schedule a writers (and families) getaway at one of these places (How far are you from Erie PA???). How cool would that be???

So long as no one throws me in the pool. I'm not the fish that Mitchell is.

(btw, I'm signing in with the url to take you right to the new blog.)

Sounds like loads of fun, Wylie, and just the thing to get rid of stress. Maybe I could ship my hubby over. He's a big kids anyway so would fit right in!

Haven't made it to the Wolf yet. We've been to the indoor waterpark that five hotels connect to - the kids loved it but it was so INSANELY loud that I truly hated it. We've also been to the Americana, which was the very first waterpark in NF, which was less loud but the water a bit on the cold side. Again, though, the kids loved it. Bit of a theme going on here...

Sounds like you had a fantabulous time, Wylie! My toes got all pruny just thinking about it... or I could be in dire need of moisturizer. ;)

A pre-break sounds like a wonderful idea. Now I just have to plan one for me and the DH. Thanks for the inspiration!

Julia - ME TOO on the kid thing. Totally!!

Leah - Mr. Kinson was asleep with them.

JK - you WILL have a blast. I promise (on behalf of the GWL team - rah rah rah)!

SHG - a writer's retreat at GWL would be so much fun! But we'd never get any work done.

Shelley - ship Mr. Munro up. We'll take good care of him ;)

Bonnie - why helloooo! I can totally picture you having a wet and crazy time at GWL. In fact, you'd liven up the hot tub quite nicely. Let me know when/if you go. BTW - now that you have a totally rockin' bathing suit bod, you simply MUST.

M. - yes definite trend. A good one, too. And GWL does have that 'din' also -- but it wasn't terribly packed last weekend so not too bad. It took me a few minutes to get used to it.

Terra - hey! Thanks for stopping in :)
