The Blood, OMG, THE BLOOD and Stephen King goes 'e'

Thursdays are usually good writing days for me because my littlest has a gym/craft program in the morning, then school in the afternoon.

Not today.

Today I spent 5 hours in the ER with Sweetness (aka the 4 yr old), or as he shall now be known, Harry Headwound*
On our way to gym (not at gym, not in the gym, but in the lobby of the rec centre), Sweetness - who was walking (not running, not skipping, not cartwheeling, just simple one-foot-in-front-of-the-other walking) tripped, stumbled forward and fell.
As he went down, he slid...
under a bench.
A metal bench.
With unforgiving metal legs.

Gashed head... way too much blood... mother getting dizzy... trying to remain calm... no paper towels in ladies room (damn hand blowers!!)... mother calling out to another Dad-friend... he bringing napkins from coffee shop...

FF 5 hours...
Sweetness home, all smiles, sporting 4 stitches and what he hopes will be a Harry Potter scar.

But oh... the blood. THE FREAKING BLOOD. Poor kid looked like an extra on the set of My Bloody Valentine (now in 3D!) ...

I'm going to petition our govenment for a new rule in Health Care that states that: when/if a mother brings a child to the ER, said mother should automatically, no questions asked, be given a valium.

*remember? Dana Carvey in SNL??

Now how's this for a perfect segue? Blood to.... Stephen King.
Interesting article...

I've been curious about the Kindle. I think I want one. Then again, there isn't much I don't want!! :D I only just set my eyes on an e-reader for the very first time the other day, compliments of Leah Braemel who owns a Sony eReader -- very cool. Especially since she had my book on it!! *grin*

Do you have one? Thinking about one? Thoughts??

Oh my, poor Sweetness! And poor you -- how frightening. (((((((hugs)))))))) I'm glad he's doing well. I like your idea for the new rule, and yup, I remember Dana Carvey in SNL. :)

E-readers -- yup, I've been thinking more and more about getting one. I've been leaning toward the Sony, but recently I read about another one which sounds intriguing: the eSlick reader.

Awww, poor Sweetness! (My knees went weak just imagining all that blood. Actually I don't have to imagine, Guitar Hero did that to me once. The memory still gives me the willies.)

I brought the reader up so you guys could play with it. No one did. Too bad, so sad, your loss. But I do love it. I've got 44 books or so waiting to be read - and most of them are from free downloads publishers have offered at various times. Tor, Harlequin, etc. I figure it's paying for itself that way.

Poor Sweetness!! Awww.

Hugs from me. I hope he does get his Harry Potter scar, if that makes him happy. LOL! What a cutie.

I want an e-reader. One day. My birthday/Mother's day gift this year is my 3D ultrasound.

Hiya TL -- thanks for the hug. I'm glad someone heard of Harry Headwound cause my husband gave me the crazy eye when I brought it up. Albiet, in the hospital emerge... probably not the most appropriate place. Not to mention accompanied by my hysterical/nervous laughter.

I haven't heard of the eSlick... I'll have to add that to the 'investigation list'

LEAH! I didn't know I was allowed to touch *sob sob* :(
Where i come from, they don't let me play with the expensive toys!!

Boys and ER seem to go together, don't they...
eek.

I felt dizzy and nauseated just reading about it all. Poor kid. Poorer Mom.

I've never understood why Dana Carvey never developed a movie career post SNL, considering how popular some of the less gifted (IMHO) alumni became cinematically. Granted, the spy movie was a horror show. But he has a newish standup special where he does really insightful, really funny political stuff.

And my fellow Gervais fan - get this: I have a novel by his live-in partner in my TBR. I didn't even know that when I bought it! (last year - my virtue on the no-book-buying-in-09 is still intact).

Oh, I'm glad he is okay. Are you okay? I know how those head wounds bleed. I had a nephew do that more than once. Glad everyone is home and safe.

Hi Kristy. And no... I'll NEVER be okay LOL!
Actually, we're all good today. Seems like a bad dream, really. And Sweetness is having fun showing his 'boo boo' and telling everyone the very long version of the story. Hmm... takes after his mother, i'd say ;)

M! (yes, I NEED the exclamation mark because I'm always so delighted by your visit)

I agree... not sure Carvey ever had the right material to allow him to carry a movie. I enjoy his stand up. I recently caught a 30 minute show on Comedy Central and LMAO. I like his politically relevant schtick.

And who is this Gervais 'partner' that wrote a book???? Inquiring minds want to borrow ;)
Have you heard any of his podcasts? Apparently quite hilarious. I must download (when I have the time and money)
