Disney's EARTH

Did a family outing to see Disney's EARTH this past weekend. It was lovely.
BUT...
I'm suggesting that you splurge and buy the BBC Earth series on DVD instead.
Go here to see my original post on this amazing collection.
Disney used about 60% footage from BBC's Planet Earth series so much of it was familiar. This brought up an interesting comparison -- I like David Attenborough's narration much better than Disney's remix, with no disrespect to James Earl Jones.
As for the kids, they were bored and fidgety after the first hour. I should probably add that both my boys (4 & 9 years old) love the theatre experience and can usually be counted on to sit still for the duration. Perhaps it's because they've both seen the BBC version but I think it's because there wasn't a plot or storyline to follow.

Have you seen it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Speaking of movies, I caught Love Actually on television the other night and was reminded of how much I enjoyed it.

I've really enjoyed the BBC one, they play it on Discovery. I talked to someone who saw the Disney movie and they thought it was okay but thought it might be a bit graphic for the younger ones.

I bought the BBC one too, and while I'm sure it's very well done, I think I can skip the Disney version.

My instinctive reaction is that Disney would dumb it down. You just can't beat the Beeb for that sort of thing.

I'm so glad to see so many have the BBC version! It really is fantastic, isn't it?

N - Disney didn't so much 'dumb it down' as 'cute it up' for kids. I was mildly surprised it wasn't hosted by an animated grasshopper!!
