Happy New Year!!

My FIRST post of 2009!

I'm a big believer in New Year's Resolutions - and for you cynics... yeah, I normally break them all, but heck, if you don't have something to reach for, you'll never take a step. That's my philosophy anyway... And what better day to start anew than January 1st.

Not many this year, but this is what I'm aiming for:

  1. Finish Jump Zone by Feb. Revisions by April.
  2. Try to get agent representation. In terms of end date, this one is out of my hands, but I can say that I'll start querying no later than March.
  3. Continue and finish either Elements of Attraction or Caught in Possession... we'll see which is calling me after Feb -- by October.
  4. Get another short story or novella out with Ellora's Cave. I've been concentrating on my non-erotic novels for some time now, at the expense of the fun short stuff.
  5. Get rid of 10% of me. Yes, the inevitable weight loss goal, the one I always seem to blow by Jan 2nd. But I gotta try!
  6. Exercise regularly. Yup, another one that'll last a week, maybe two ;) Srsly... I go in spits and spurts and I stay consistent if I want results!
  7. Read more. My TBR grew and grew but I just didn't have much time to devote this year (even gave up listing them on my sidebar months ago...) I won't try for the 65 books I managed in 2007 -- in fact I hesitate to put a number on it, but I'm hoping for more than 30.

Do you share any of these? If so maybe we can support each other :)

Happy, Healthy & Successful New Year to all of you!

Happy New Year! Your resolutions sound remarkably similar to mine. We can cheer each other on. :)

Happy New Year Wylie! I'm right there with you on 6 & 7 and I don't need to lose so much weight as I just need to eat healthier consistently. It the word consistent I always have a problem with!

Kristy - Yes... I need a big poster on wall to remind me "STAY CONSISTANT!"
I'll exercise for weeks at a time, then nothing for months...
I'll eat healthy for weeks at time, then go back to chips and diet soda. NOT GOOD. Guess I get lazy :(
Good luck with your goals this year. I'll send some positive energy, cause that's GOT to help, right? ;)

Positive energy can't hurt. I'm now staring at the treadmill and I think it's staring back;-) I think I'm going to get in the shower and shave my legs instead. That counts as exercise, right?

You know I'm addicted to my daily workouts, so any cheering or encouragement -- or advice -- you need from me will be doled out in small, easy to handle bites.

Happy New Year, Wylie. And yes, #5 and #6 are on my list, in fact they are the main part of it this year. *sigh* But it sort of goes against my other resolution to "put my butt in the chair and my hands on the keyboard" Which is what I prefer to do. Figures they'd clash.

(word verification is teness - wonder if that's telling me I need to 'play tennis' ... so not going to happen, I have no depth perception)

Kristy - anything done in 'the nude' counts as exercise as far as I'm concerned!! :D

SGH - I know I like how I feel once I've been exercising regularly... but it's just so easy NOT TOO. And then there's that time thing...

Leah!! You are so right. Writing and movement clash big time. We need one of those chairs that jiggle and wiggle under us while we type :D

Hi, Wylie! That's a great list of resolutions, and good luck with them. I know you can do it! :-D

I share quite a few of them: to finish Heart's Chalice, hopefully by April or May, try to get an agent for it, keep crossing fingers for Mirror Blue, keep hiking, and the eating has gotten a lot better thanks to the wonky gallbladder. :)

Hear hear for cheering each other on! Happy New Year, my friend, and H & P!

Hmm finishing some projects for sure, landing an agent and reading more. Can't do anything about the weight loss at the moment though ;)

Happy New Year, Wylie. I want to lose those last five pounds and exercise more regularly. Hope I'll follow through with my resolution. Here's to a great 2009.

Wylie Kinson said...

Jane -- I wish it was only those last five pounds, but alas, in my case, that's only the beginning ;)
Best to you and yours in 09!

Amy - yes, you have a long way to go up before coming back down *snort*

Hey TL - I hope that gallbladder hasn't been troubling you, but on the good side, if it's doing the dietary habits good, it can't be all bad, eh? ;)
Good luck with your 09 goals. I'll be rooting for you!

Happy New Year, Wylie. I'm not big on New Year's resolutions, in fact I never make them. All I want from this year is to be happy. The agent thing - I've been trying off and on for a while. I've decided to give up on that - I have one more completed manuscript to try but that's it. After that, no more. I'm tired of banging my head against a wall...

Anyhow - good luck with all your resolutions. Do report your progress here because I'll be cheering you on with every single one of your resolutions.

Hugs
Shell

Ooh, nice list Wylie! I was afraid to mention my TBR pile on my own list; I think I might even stop taking raffle tickets at the TRW meetings to avoid getting more delightful books to enjoy.

Like I'd be able to pass up a chance at winning something. LOL

Hey, my word verification was "duran." How cool is that? Her name is Rio...

LOL Leah and Bonnie on the word verifications! Mine is 'ingles' - makes me wonder if Laura Ingalls is poking me to get back to my historicals...

Wylie - all of your resolutions could be mine (simple replace the titles of my WIP's.) Should be mine... Here's some encouragement:

Go, Wylie! Go!

I'm aiming for agent representation. As far as the weight thing goes? I'm terrible with any resolutions that way.
I'll cheer you on though.
Good luck on your projects. You can dooooooo it.

Wylie Kinson said...

Jennifer - thanks. I will need all the cheering I can get! Good luck with the agent hunt :)

Julia - thanks, my friend. Your 'go Wylie go' will give me the strength to forego a dbl/dbl in place of milk and sweetner :)

Bonnie - shut your mouth, girl. You NOT winning is JUST.NOT.RIGHT.
Win then donate to the person sitting next to you.
*note to self: sit next to Bonnie at next meeting*
